The Founder

We have been making plans. Fundraising will always be priority, but in the meantime let’s enjoy the events, activities, and making new friends ❤️

My name is LaToya Brinson, and I am the founder of B.U. NFP. I have 13 years extensive experience working with nonprofits in clinical child welfare settings, including six years of management experience. As a scientist, I oversee oncology clinical trials, which is crucial for advancing cancer research and treatment. I was born and raised on the Westside of Chicago and grew up on the southside of Chicago, where resources and support systems were scarce, making it difficult to thrive.

I come from a background of poverty and grew up in high-risk schools and communities. Despite facing challenges, I persevered and eventually became a social worker. I had to overcome obstacles, such as failing the third grade, but I also had some positive experiences, such as being a team mom. Through hard work and determination, I earned three college degrees and became a social worker and a scientist. At the age of twenty-six, I purchased my first home and raised my child to attend Hampton university and now in the United States Airforce to become a doctor. I am grateful for the support of my community, mentors, family, and friends, as they played an integral role in my achievements.

I created B.U. NFP to help young ladies and their parents help them overcome the same obstacles and more. I was fortunate to have the support I did to become who I am, and I want to provide the same support to other young ladies, many who have no help at or support at all.
